Love to Move is the UK’s biggest
age and dementia-friendly
seated exercise programme,
designed specifically for older
adults, including those living with
dementia, Parkinson’s disease,
or cognitive impairments. It
focuses on improving physical,
cognitive, and emotional well-being while fostering social
connection and enjoyment.
What Makes Love to Move Unique?
The exercises were carefully
designed and tested over a two-year period and co-created with people living with dementia in both Care Home and Community settings.
Love to Move’s bilaterally asymmetrical movement patterns throughout the session are the exercises which stimulate the pathways between neurons in the brain and are what help people with memory and other brain functionality. Many Love to Move participants have re-gained skills and everyday living functions that they previously thought lost through dementia.

“They’ve helped me to get moving. They’ve helped me get home again.”
The Love to Move Programme has helped Jean regain her independence.
Jean wanted the chance to tell us about her story. She explained that she used to be a resident in the care home as she had lost some mobility and a lot of independence. She said it was our programme that made all the difference and helped her to get her independence back again and help her to get home again.
With your generous support, you can help more people to benefit from the Love to Move programme! Just £55 can support a group of people living with dementia to enjoy a love to Move session.

What makes our programme so effective?
Love to Move is specially designed to get older people moving and functioning better. The programme achieves this by carefully integrating the use of gymnastic foundation skills, cognitive stimulation therapy and social interaction activities. The bilaterally asymmetrical movement patterns are understood to benefit older people and those with dementia and mild cognitive impairment, by enabling the left side and right side of the brain to process information independently; thus improving cognitive function, coordination and the ability to carry out activities of daily living more independently. Above all, the programme is fun! One of our participants has said that it brings her; “One hour of wonderfulness each week!”
When asked: How does Love to Move make you feel, 100% of participants said they felt ‘Happy’ or ‘Great’ after Love to Move sessions.
87% of participants said they move more regularly and are more confident taking part
81% felt they had improved functionality and independence
96% of participants said they are better connected and engaged in a supportive community following their Love to Move sessions
“The Programme has a demonstrable benefit in the physical, emotional and cognitive aspects of older people and those older people having mild to advanced forms of dementia appear to benefit the most.”
